The first thing you will notice when you enter her office is the calm peaceful refuge that has been created to support your growth and unfolding. Working in several modalities and using an eclectic mix of styles that incorporates body, mind and spirit, she has successfully helped many people find relief from anxiety and depression, enhance feelings of well-being, navigate transitions, and improve relationships.

In addition to her formal education and training in Clinical and Counseling Psychology, she has extensive experience in healthful lifestyle practices through meditation, exercise and healthy eating, which has been useful for many of her clients.

Specializing in an eclectic, interactive and solution focused approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, she is currently working in private practice with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise include depression therapy, anxiety therapy, family counseling, premarital counseling, marriage counseling, stage of life counseling, grief and loss support, life enrichment, spiritual problems, communication skills for couples, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Ericksonian hypnosis and mental illness support for individuals and families.

Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. As she integrates complementary methodologies and techniques, she offers a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education: Ellen Adams has a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology and is licensed in the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She has degrees from the University of California and the California State University system.

Professional Activities and Memberships: Ellen Adams is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and is associated with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) as an Educator of mental health professionals, and as a State Trainer of NAMI California Support Group Facilitators.

Ellen was awarded the "Be the Difference Award" from the Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz and received a Certificate of Recognition From Senator Bill Monning and Assemblyman Mark Stone for her volunteer work with families and people dealing with severe mental health challenges.
